Florida has not been one of our best adventures. We had to go to Camp Monaco in Wildwood, for some unexpected repairs on November 6. Since we did not have an appointment we had to wait our turn. Fortunately we were very close to Ruth Ann’s Aunt Helen, Uncle Harry and cousin Connie Springer and we able to visit with them. Her aunt and uncle live in a neat retirement community of over 40,000 homes call The Village. There are 18 golf courses for the residence. Each area has their own town square with quaint shops and restaurants. Every night from 5 – 7 is happy hour with some form of entertainment. The mode of transportation is golf carts. You jump in your cart to golf, go shopping, out to eat, or even the doctor or dentist. There are cart paths everywhere, and even an overpass or underground tunnel to safely cross some of the major roads. Now this is a great way to live. If we wanted to stop RVing this would be a great place to settle down.

While there Jack came down with the flu and had to go to the ER only to find out he had a bacteria infection. After few days on an antibiotic and the coach repaired, we traveled two hours to Bradenton/Sarasota area to see our nephew, Chad. Jack continued to feel bad even after 5 days of antibiotic, so we headed to the ER in Bradenton. There he was diagnosed with an abscess on his liver. Nine days later after many tests, antibiotics, and abscess drained, he was able to get out of the hospital late the day before Thanksgiving. However we have to stay in the area for few weeks for his daily antibiotics in his PIC. Won’t go into all the details but the only scenery we have seen of Florida is the hospitals – not the adventure we want. Hopefully we are released soon and on our way to Texas for the holidays.

Some days you have to stop and smell the roses. So we did. We found a great ROD campground in Greensboro, GA called The Northshore Resort. It is nestled on a lake next to a train track. They have used that as the theme of the park with rail cars throughout the campgrounds. The cars are used as the registration office, sales office, manager’s offices, country store, plus cabins for rent. The campground is on Lake Oconee with many scenic views. Our site was great as we pulled in next to our personal deck which overlooked the lake. What a great place to stop and take a breath.
