It doesn’t seem possible that it was two months ago we celebrated Christmas with family in Denver CO and met our new grand-nephew Wyatt. It is always great to spend the holidays with family and was very special for Joan and me to have both our sons with us for the holidays. Of course they were upstaged by Wyatt!
After all the cold weather and snow, we left and moved to warmer (?) weather at our favorite park. Canyon Vista in Gold Canyon, AZ. However it was not that much warmer. We have had the coldest and the wettest January-February yet – with only one day in the 70s until February 10 when we started to have the 70s we love. Arizona has the most beautiful sunsets and from our campsite we are fortunate to look out unto the dessert and enjoy these sunsets every night. Coming to Canyon Vista is like coming home, being back with our friends and all the activities (and there are many including concerts, 50-60s dance, birthday parties, and happy hours). As I mentioned, we have had more rain this year and the desert is greener than we have ever seen it. We drove the venturous Apache Trail, crossing a flooded area at Tortillas Flats and saw several waterfalls that are normally not in the dessert. Also, this year we ventured to Mexico for a visit to the dentist. It seems all the retirees here go to Yuma and then cross over to Mexico for their drugs, dentist and glasses. Guess it was time for us to join the group and it was an experience (good one fortunately). Again we made the day trip to Quartzite, AZ, which is an event everyone should at least see. During the months of January, February and March there are over 500,000 campers, RVs, Fifth wheels and whatever camping device you have, dry camping mostly on the dessert while they attend either the RV show or the gem show. We have not taken the coach there yet – maybe one day.
We still have two more weeks here before traveling to California. Joan and Earl will join us for the last two weeks of more fun and adventure. Still loving this life style and looking forward to more adventures.
